Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), reported that 422 new infections cases were declared on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, and five deaths were recorded.
The NCDC reported this through its website on Tuesday morning. The confirmed 422 cases were recorded from nine states and the FCT.
The agency said that Lagos state has the highest cases with the Delta variant of the Coronavirus as the state recorded 190 cases of the 422 cases reported. The public health agency tracking the rise in the cases of the virus across the states in the country, said that the Delta variant of the infection was on the rise across the country. Rivers recorded 86 cases, Ogun recorded 85 cases, Oyo recorded 22 cases, Kwara had 7, Edo, 5, Abia recorded 4 cases, Bayelsa recorded 3cases, while FCT recorded 20 cases,
The NCDC has reported that 219 people have recovered and were discharged from various isolation centers in the country on Saturday. As reported by Channelstv.com that a total of 178,508 cases have been confirmed, 165,983 patients have been discharged and 2,192 deaths have been recorded in 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory.
As a result of the Third wave, Channelstv.com has reported that the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib announced the commencement of the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination program on August 16.
